A finalist in the Mix Awards 2026 Project of the Year – Positive Impact category, Amnesty International's new UK headquarters was designed around three key principles: inclusivity, sustainability and people. Working with buildgen., AllSfär supplied acoustic solutions that helped support the creation of an environment reflecting Amnesty's values while accommodating a wide range of working styles through thoughtful, people focused design.
From the outset, the project sought to balance environmental responsibility with employee wellbeing. Materials and furniture were consolidated and reused from multiple offices, existing elements were retained wherever possible, and an impressive 98.6% of construction waste was diverted from landfill. These efforts contributed towards the project’s SKA Silver certification and reinforced Amnesty International’s commitment to responsible and sustainable practice.
Alongside sustainability, creating an inclusive workplace experience was a key priority. The design incorporated a variety of settings for focused work, collaboration and informal interaction, while accessibility and neurodiversity considerations helped shape the overall environment. Acoustic comfort played an important role in supporting these objectives, ensuring spaces remained calm, comfortable and productive throughout the working day.
To help achieve this, AllSfär’s Breeze Curve acoustic baffles were used in a highly creative and impactful way. Configured into flowing circular forms across the ceiling, the installation demonstrates how a standard acoustic product can be used to create a striking architectural feature. Manufactured from GRS certified fibres containing 99% recycled content, including 60% post-consumer waste, Breeze Curve supported the project’s environmental goals while delivering excellent acoustic performance. The sweeping curves introduce movement and visual interest overhead while helping to control reverberation within the open plan workspace.
The soft, sculptural forms work seamlessly with the warm material palette, creating a welcoming atmosphere that encourages connection and collaboration. At the same time, the acoustic performance of Breeze Curve contributes to a more balanced soundscape, supporting concentration and everyday comfort across a variety of work settings.
The completed project demonstrates how thoughtful acoustic design can enhance both form and function. By combining sustainable practices, inclusive design principles and creative use of acoustic solutions, the project delivers a workplace that reflects Amnesty International’s values while providing a flexible, people focused environment for the future.
