Interchange Croydon is a landmark commercial development, featuring a striking double height reception designed to create a memorable first impression for tenants and visitors. Grey Interiors set out to transform the entrance space into a welcoming and contemporary destination that balanced visual impact with occupant comfort.
To help achieve this vision, Grey Interiors worked closely with AllSfär to develop a series of bespoke acoustic features that would become a key part of the reception design. From the outset, the project required a collaborative approach, with extensive discussions between the Grey Interiors design team, Jasmine Contractors and AllSfär to ensure the final solution met both the aesthetic and technical requirements of the space
Öra V panels in the Arches pattern were used to create large scale feature walls throughout the reception, introducing warmth and character to the expansive glazed atrium, helping to soften the scale of the space while enhancing its acoustic performance. The pattern adds subtle visual interest, creating a refined backdrop that complements the wider interior scheme.
The project presented several technical challenges, particularly around the design and manufacture of the tall 3.6 metre baffles required for the edge of the pagoda structures. Through close collaboration between Grey Interiors, Jasmine Contractors and the AllSfär production team, a solution was developed that achieved both the required acoustic performance and the exceptional finish demanded by such a prominent entrance environment.
With the reception acting as the focal point of the building, attention to detail was essential. Every element was carefully considered and manufactured to a high standard, ensuring the acoustic features not only performed effectively but also enhanced the overall design experience. The result is a reception space where acoustic solutions play an integral role in the architecture, adding texture, warmth and visual interest throughout.
The finished environment balances acoustic performance with architectural impact. Öra V and BreezeSense work together to soften the acoustics of the expansive atrium while enhancing the overall design language of the space. Rich green finishes, carefully considered detailing and bespoke acoustic features create a welcoming and memorable arrival experience, helping Interchange Croydon stand out as a premium commercial destination.
