Accor Invest called upon AllSfär’s expertise to address an acoustic problem. How can we design a workplace that offers employees ample space to collaborate while minimising noise and sound disturbances in open-plan areas? Glass surfaces also play a significant role in the room’s acoustics. Since processing areas are relatively limited, the performance and placement of the glass panels become crucial for meeting client requirements and ensuring employee well-being.
An acoustic study—the starting point for resolving any problem—allowed us to quantify and position the necessary absorption surface. Reverberation times measured before work began ranged from 0.5 to over 1 second, depending on the area. To achieve a suitable acoustic environment within a busy office with numerous employees, we used large-format Tyg suspended ceiling acoustic solutions. Positioned in the ceiling with the technical elements exposed, the suspended acoustic panels absorb noise in the open spaces directly above the sound sources. They play a crucial role in reducing reverberation and provide a calm atmosphere conducive to concentration. To limit the noise impact in the break areas (which become very lively during coffee breaks), we recommended and installed an “acoustic airlock,” a veritable tunnel that provides access to and delineates two distinct zones: relaxation and work.
In the adjacent corridors, Tyg wall-mounted solutions in grey 8009 Harbor were installed.
