While our standard panel sizes are optimised for up to 2400mmH, taller walls don’t mean you need oversized acoustic panels. With thoughtful design and detailing, you can create calm, balanced spaces that work both visually and acoustically.
Below are practical strategies we use to deal with walls above 2400mm.
Painting the wall space above your acoustic panels in a colour that complements or matches the panel finish is an effective way to bridge the gap between panel height and ceiling height.
This approach creates a smooth transition that feels intentional, especially in spaces where architectural details or existing finishes already create visual breaks.

Instead of extending panels beyond standard heights, installing them up to 2400mm and introducing a subtle join detail can work beautifully. We can amend, and work with our standard Ora V and Ora Layered designs to create options that look seamless no matter how tall your wall is.

Rather than always running panels floor to ceiling, consider centring them both vertically and horizontally. This can create a strong architectural composition that feels purposeful on taller walls.
It’s a particularly good option in feature areas such as meeting rooms and lounge spaces.

Deliberate use of a contrasting colour, finish, or texture above or below the acoustic panels helps break up tall wall heights. This doesn’t just manage scale it draws attention to your acoustic design as a feature.

Adding a timber surround to your acoustic panels instantly gives the wall a refined, architectural quality. The timber frame can extend above the panels and be colour coordinated with the surrounding surfaces to create a cohesive look.

In spaces with white ceilings or minimal finishes, leaving the section above the panels white helps it visually merge into the ceiling plane. This is a subtle but effective way to reduce visual height and focus attention on the treated panel area.

For walls that reach heights such as 2800mm or more, one option is to install a base layer of acoustic felt over the full height of the wall and then apply finished panels up to 2400mm on top. This gives acoustic coverage across the entire surface while maintaining a clear visual hierarchy, plus this will improve the acoustic performance of the product.

Walls above 2400mm don’t have to be challenging; they represent an opportunity to be creative with acoustic design. With considered detailing, proportion, and finish selection, you can manage noise effectively while enhancing the final space.
Whether you’re working on an open-plan office, a reception area, or a collaborative zone, choosing the right design strategy helps create calm, balanced interiors that perform as well as they look.
